The characteristics of the pressure equipment used for heat exchange
The heat exchangers must comply with certain requirements of efficiency and safety
The heat exchangers for chemical, pharmaceutical and food plants are generally
constituted by two chambers, the shell
side and the tube side: in the shell side circulates the primary fluid, while in the side tubes circulates
the secondary fluid which has the
purpose to cool the primary fluid.
In the heat exchanger suitable connections allow the
input of the primary fluid and
the secondary fluid while the output
is realized by vents:
the various components of pressure equipment are joined together by welds and bolted joints.
As each pressure equipment heat exchangers for chemical,
pharmaceutical and food plants are classified, in accordance with PED 97/23/EC, in a certain risk category.
