Vacuum concentrators consist of a boiler where the heating and subsequent evaporation of the liquid to be concentrated take place, a section for cooling and condensing the vapor, and a system for generating the vacuum.
Vacuum concentrators allow a liquid to be concentrated without exposing it to high temperatures: thanks to the vacuum, the boiling point is reduced and the product does not need to undergo thermal treatment that could damage its components.
Vacuum concentrators allow a solution to be concentrated multiple times: therefore, from large initial solution volumes, it is possible to obtain the same amount of solute in much smaller volumes.
Inside vacuum concentrators, the vacuum—combined with limited heat input—allows evaporation to take place at low temperatures.
